Puppy raising
Patriotic Service Dog Foundation relies on its volunteer puppy raisers to take puppies into their homes and help raise them as they prepare to become service dogs. Being a puppy raiser is a big commitment that is fun and rewarding. Puppy raisers train a puppy that will be a lifeline for someone who really needs them.
"As a puppy raiser I keep in mind that the puppy that I am caring for has
a greater good in life then being a pet in my home. They will be a lifeline
for someone who really needs them. I consider it an honor to play a role
in helping a veteran have a better, more fulfilling life with the help of their
service dog. My first dog I raised with Patriotic Service Dog Foundation is
Howie. I received him in May of 2016 after meeting Patriotic Service Dog Foundation at the OC Pet Expo." ~Adrienne Medrano

"It all started when my husband matched up with Emmy the service dog in training. Over the course of their training and bonding we were at the Triple T Ranch weekly for 2 years up to their certification and beyond. When the opportunity came up to be a puppy raiser, we jumped on it without a doubt in our minds, what a wonderful way to “Pay it Forward” after all Emmy was such a blessing to our family and I had seen first-hand the change she made in my husband and our everyday living; what I didn’t know was the passion it would ignite within me! Of course, everyone says “but how do you give them up”, I don’t look at it as “giving them up” but rather “growing them up”. My role as a puppy raiser is to give these pups the right balance of love and discipline so they can grow to be the best pup ever and go on to be amazing service dogs for their forever person. Each puppy is just as unique and just as special as the last. They each leave an everlasting paw print on your heart and the happiness you get, when you watch them match up and help someone in need is just a pure indescribable, magical joy. Now there are MANY positives to this journey that I can go on and on about, however, this feeling alone is why I puppy raise for Patriotic Service Dog Foundation, it just makes you want to do more and more, which is why I am on my 7th puppy. Puppy raising has been absolutely wonderful for me, my kids and the whole family. " ~Jennifer Thomas

"I have been a part of the Patriotic Service Dogs foundation for seven years and I’ve raised seven puppies. There is such an overwhelming joy in my heart when I see our Veterans and the dogs I’ve raised work together and see the two become working companions . These dogs change our Veterans lives through love, the knowledge that this dog will help them through anything, have their back and unconditional love. It is a honor to be part of the Patriotic Service Dogs foundation and what they have created.
The Definition of Giving: Generosity, the habit of giving freely without expecting anything in return.
This is what the Patriotic Service Dog Foundation has created. And when I leave this world I know I have done something quite extraordinary by giving. It is my hope when you read this you may give to our Veterans who have given so much for our freedom " ~Judy Lipiz
